FDI in Figures

Between 2005 and 2007, investment projects increased in the mining sector; however, the global economic crisis and the lack of legal protection have considerably held back investors. It is expected that the next decade will be less productive in terms of foreign investments.

The country has abundant natural resources (diamonds, gold, uranium, timber), which are largely unexploited; however, there are several factors that limit the country's appeal:  insufficient infrastructures, shortage of qualified workforce, political instability and insecurity are some of these.

The wood and diamonds sectors attract most of the FDI and France and Japan are the two main investor countries.
